The first hybrid versions of the midsize Honda Accord sedan went on sale in 2014, offering improved fuel economy and, for that year only, a plug-in hybrid option supplying 13 miles of electric range. In 2017, Honda introduced a second-generation hybrid system with 16 extra horsepower, bringing the total output to 212. One year later, Honda completely redesigned the Accord Hybrid, adding new safety amenities, even more interior room, and a third-generation hybrid system. A redesigned 2023 Accord Hybrid brought a fourth-generation hybrid system with significant improvements in refinement. In addition, all Accords except for the base LX and midgrade EX trim levels had the hybrid powertrain as standard equipment. By the Accord's 2023 redesign, fuel economy ranged from 44 to 48 mpg, depending on the trim level.
